MIL & IP Standards Explained
We know lives depend on our rugged mobile solutions, so all ROCKY computers are certified rugged to MIL-STDs by independent third parties.
Beat it, burn it, blast it with water or dust – our certified rugged ROCKY computers keep on operating. That’s because AMREL goes the extra mile in meeting MIL-STD 810 requirements. Unlike other providers, we only sell computers that are truly rugged. Discover how to tell if a computer is really tough.
This standard protects against electronic magnetic interference, an especially important issue for AMREL, as some of our computers are subsystems in larger solutions. To read in detail about the testing and history of this standard, visit this section and download our popular white paper.
We’ve all seen those ratings of IP65, IP54, etc. These are important measurements of protection against dust and water, especially for commercial applications. Find out what these numbers exactly mean in regards to being certified rugged.
Baja Torture Test
“Imagine a test where you: blow dust at your laptop for hours at a time; vibrate it all day for days at a time; subject it to altitude variations of 0 to 10,000 feet; operate it in temperatures reaching 130 degrees Fahrenheit; virtually soak the laptop in water for two days; expose it to humidity of 95 percent for prolonged periods. While this may seem like a specially designed test to force a laptop to fail, the truth is that this was an actual situation.” Read how an AMREL computer was subjected to this “Baja Torture test,” and learn how we make them so tough.
